Newport
Located on the Central Coast of Oregon, Newport’s reputation comes from the small Yaquina Bay Oyster, which has attracted seafood lovers from around the world since the 1860’s. With a population of over 10,000, Newport offers unique beaches, shopping and event attractions like no other city in the area. Newport is also home to the Oregon Coast Aquarium, one of the top visitor attractions on the coastline, this 29 acre facility features over 190 animal species, six acres of cliffs, caves, tide pools and natural hiking trails. Newport has Oregon’s oldest beach destination, Nye Beach, complete with miles of sandy beach, shops, eateries and sightseeing opportunities. Newport is also home to Oregon’s tallest lighthouse, Yaquina Head. Climb up 93 feet to the top for beautiful scenic views or do some clamming and crabbing in the Bay below.
